Indeed, that bothers the hell out of me. I missed the whole thursday last year due to this :/ Another day probably adds to the price, but it could be worth it to be able to go to the whole event. And really, who the hell misses saturday freely? :D

I can answer two of those.
2. The Hotel Nordica lies just 100 meters from the actual Fanfest building. It's as close as you get, and it's really fresh too. Other option is Loftlei=ir Icelandair Hotel, which is about 2-3 kilometers from the site, not as luxurious and lies close to a domestic airport. It's a bit cheaper though.
3. Smoking inside is banned still. At least as far as the Fanfest area goes.
